12 Tags of Christmas Angels and Reindeer in the Snow

The weeks have flown by and I haven't kept up with The Funkie Junkie's 12 Tags of Christmas challenge, so this weekend I decided to have some fun and amend my slackery.  I printed all of Linda's tags on one page then took a second blank page and sketched out my versions.  To speed things along, I cut all 12 tags from watercolor paper, then cut out all of my die cut elements for each tag at once.  I spent all of Friday evening, all of Saturday evening, and an hour on Sunday playing along.

I am crazy about Linda's use of neutrals and metalics on tag 2.  I painted my background with the gorgeous PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Metallic Acrylic White Fire.  I thought it would be fun to sprinkle some embossing powder onto the wet paint and emboss it.

(Excuse my messy desk in the background...)  The result was incredible!

I used Tim's Mixed Media Christmas dies to cut the poinsettias.  I love this metallic texture peeking through!  My overlay tag was dyed with Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap DI.  I stamped a faux stitch stamp (BoBunny) along the perimeter.

So my mom has told me for years and years that she has a brand new box of stamps somewhere, yet we never found them.  Sadly, she had a huge plumbing leak and had to empty a room to get new flooring.  We had to clean out the old closet.  Well after probably ten years, the long lost box of stamps was found!!!  Ha ha ha ha...  Here they are.  :)  We just had a play day with the leaves (I'll share soon) and I decided to use the angel stamp in place of Linda's Santa image.  I stamped with Archival Tree Bark and fussy cut the word "Gloria" and layered at the bottom.

I cut the center with a circle die.

I inked up some of Tim's Paper Snowflakes with Versamark then added some gold embossing powder, then went back over the empty spaces with silver for a two-toned effect to work with my White Fire background.

Lastly, I added a gorgeous ribbon topper with a ribbon from a Chico's shopping bag.  Thanks Bonnie!!!  Man, what a fun tag to make!

Now, I know I already made tag 1 into a couple of cards (see them HERE) but I wanted a complete collection of tags this year, so I did this newversion.  I was inspired by Linda's use of the deer die and tree background.

I used the Impression Obsession Deer Trio die and the Tim Holtz Treeline On the Edge die.

I made my background with Cracked Pistachio DOX and Evergreen Bough DI.  I sort of curved the tag and applied my Versamark ink pad direct to paper on the "folds" and embossed with white to make the snowy terraces.

I embossed the snow stamp from Tim's new Great Outdoors stamp set at the top.  I thickly applied Liquitex texture paste over my treeline, which I cut into two sections.  This particular texture paste is very light and airy and made a good faux snow effect.  The sentiment strip is from the new Metallic Holiday Talk sticker set.  This was super quick to make, but I really like the simplicity.

See all of my 12 Tags of Christmas HERE.

I used these exquisite products from the sponsor The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Play along for a chance to win one $50 grand prize gift certificate or one of two runner up prizes of $25 gift certificates.

Always a delight to see Christmas tags as I try to imagine what gifts they could be attached to or where they will be displayed. Both beautiful in their own right, the embossing gives them both that rich Christmas element. As always look forward to seeing more. Hugs Tracey xx

Sigh, such loveliness in your tags, Autumn. Those rich, regal browns in the first tag make me feel like I'm in the presence of royalty, and your snowy scene with the deer is gorgeous! hugs, de

Absolutely beautiful. The first tag is so elegant and love all the texture on the heat embossing. The second tag is fabulous too with a great colour combination and the black silhouettes are stunning. Great find with the stamps, sorry about the circumstances though x

These tags are gorgeous! Love the backgrounds. How clever to use white embossing powder for the snow on the second tag. And the snowflakes on the first tag are to die for

These are both sensational, Autumn. The first one is so lovely with the vintage gold hues. I love the way you created the background and the way it peeks through the Mixed Media die cut. The snowy white and green tag is equally as beautiful. Another wonderful background and I love the snowy trees. Great job! Thanks so much for sharing.

Hugs,
Linda

Wow - the embossing powder over the White Fire is truly magnificent! What a wonderful shimmer there is about your beautiful angel tag - and what a happy find of that box of stamps. Shame it took a horrid leak to reveal them, but it's definitely a silver lining for that particular cloud. Love the snowy trees and deer silhouettes of the "first" tag too. Looking forward to seeing the complete set!
